Apples Galore!

The Junebug Weekly
September 13th and 15th

Apples Galore!

The Creative Corner
An apple a day...

Tuesday-September 13th
Seed Science
Junebugs will become little scientists as they help the teachers dissect an apple.  They will observe and discuss the apple’s seeds before sprinkling them onto glue to create an original work of art.

Apple Art Place Mat
Junebugs will have some messy hands-on fun as they create beautiful masterpieces by stamping apple halves into paint and onto a large piece of butcher paper.  Their artwork will be laminated and returned to them to use as a place mat.

Sweet Snack
Junebugs will enjoy eating apples with honey and cheese.

Thursday-September 8th
Fingertip Trees
Junebugs will have some messy, hands-on fun as they create adorable apple trees by stamping their fingertips into red paint and then onto their paper apple trees.

Craft Clips
Junebugs will design apple-themed refrigerator clips to showcase all of the their lovely artwork by painting wooden apples and gluing them onto magnetic clothes pins.

A Baker's Dozen
Or is that a dozen bakers?!  Junebugs will become chefs as they help their teachers sprinkle cinnamon and sugar onto apples.  The teachers will bake the apples and the Junebugs will enjoy the delicious apple crisps at snack time.

Circle Time Routine
Educational. Social. Playful.

Greeting
Find and sit on your circle time mat.  Greet your friends with the song 'Hello Neighbor!'.  Read Fly High Little Bird.

Morning Stretch
"Point to your nose, reach down to your toes, wiggle your hips, and bend your elbows.  Reach up high to the sky,  reach down low to the floor, stretch to the window, and stretch to the door.  Whisper 'shhhhh' and sit quietly on the floor."

Morning Work
Calendar
Sing the "Seven Days In A Week".  Discuss today's theme and activities.

Weather
Observe the weather through the window and discuss proper clothing using flashcards.

Numbers
Count to 10 on your fingers.  Sing along with 'Ten Little Numbers'.

Letters
Sing the 'ABCs' with instruments.  Rap the 'ABC's' with Elmo.  Listen to 'Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom'.  Color the letter of the day (A is for apple) and glue it into your notebook.

Morning Stories
Apples from Enchanted Learning
Apples, Apples, Apples by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace

Morning Songs
'Apples and Bananas'
'Applesauce'
sung to the tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy
Peel an apple,
Cut it up,
Cook it in a pot
When you taste it,
You will find,
It is applesauce!

We're so excited to share three sweet apple activities a day to keep your little one's doldrums away!

Two Apple Aficionados,
