It's Turkey Time!

The Junebug Weekly
November 1 and November 3

It's Turkey Time!

The Creative Corner
Gobble, Gobble, Gobble!

Tuesday-November 1
Turkey Hands and Feet
After a mini-science lesson on the parts of a turkey (feathers, beaks, wings, claws) Junebugs will make wooden turkey masks that we will use to sing during circle time.

Corn Bin Corral
Junebugs love free sensory time!  This week they will get a hands on math lesson with corn using cups, spoons, and other tools as they measure, mix and repeatedly pour the kernels.

Thursday-November 3
For The Birds
Junebugs will learn about the diet of turkeys and other birds.  Then they will make their own bird feeder using cornmeal mash, bird seed mix, and egg cartons.

T is for Turkey
Junebugs will recognize the letter T in uppercase print and learn it's sound.  They'll sing the "T sounds" song as they make fingerprint turkey friends.

Circle Time Routine
Educational. Social. Playful.

Greeting
Find and sit on your circle time mat.  Greet your friends with the song 'Hello Neighbor!'.  Read Fly High Little Bird.

Morning Stretch
"Point to your nose, reach down to your toes, wiggle your hips, and bend your elbows.  Reach up high to the sky,  reach down low to the floor, stretch to the window, and stretch to the door.  Whisper 'shhhhh' and sit quietly on the floor."

Morning Work
Calendar
Sing the "Seven Days In A Week".  Discuss today's theme and activities.

Weather
Observe the weather through the window and discuss proper clothing using flashcards.

Numbers
Count to 10 on your fingers.  Sing along with 'Ten Little Numbers'.

Letters
Sing the 'ABCs' with instruments.  Rap the 'ABC's' with Elmo.  Listen to 'Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom'.  Color the letter of the day (T is for turkey) and glue it into your notebook.

Morning Songs

Ten Little Turkeys
I'm a Little Turkey
I'm a little turkey,
my name is Ted,
Here are my feathers and here is my head.
Gobble, gobble, gobble is what I say,
Quick! Run!
It's Thanksgiving Day!

We can't believe that November is already here, but we're glad because we love turkey time!
