All Aboard The Mayflower!

The Junebug Weekly
November 15 and November 17

A Celebration of Friendship.

The Creative Corner
Pilgrims, Mayflower, Friends.

Tuesday-November 15
Set Sail for Plymouth Rock
After a mini-lesson on the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock the Junebugs will make their very own Mayflower ship.

P is for Pilgrim
Junebugs will recognize the letter P, form it's sound, and identify it as the beginning sound in the word pilgrim.  They will then make their very own "P is for pilgrim" hat to wear.

Busy, Busy, Beans
Junebugs will enjoy sensory tubs full of beans, trucks and scoops.

Thursday-November 17
We Give Thanks
Junebugs will listen to a story about the Thanksgiving holiday and learn the word 'thankful'.  We will discuss things we might be thankful for and then make a placemat to use on Thanksgiving day.

Thanksgiving Countdown
Junebugs will make a turkey to help them countdown the days left until Thanksgiving.

Busy, Busy, Beans
Junebugs will enjoy sensory tubs full of beans, trucks and scoops.

Circle Time Routine
Educational. Social. Playful.
Greeting
Find and sit on your circle time mat.  Greet your friends with the song 'Hello Neighbor!'.  Read Fly High Little Bird.

Morning Stretch
"Point to your nose, reach down to your toes, wiggle your hips, and bend your elbows.  Reach up high to the sky,  reach down low to the floor, stretch to the window, and stretch to the door.  Whisper 'shhhhh' and sit quietly on the floor."

Morning Work
Calendar
Sing the "Seven Days In A Week".  Discuss today's theme and activities.

Weather
Observe the weather through the window and discuss proper clothing using flashcards.

Numbers
Count to 10 on your fingers.  Sing along with 'Ten Little Numbers'.

Letters
Sing the 'ABCs' with instruments.  Rap the 'ABC's' with Elmo.  Listen to 'Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom'.  Color the letter of the day (P is for pilgrim) and glue it into your notebook.

Morning Songs

Upon the Mayflower (Twinkle Star)
Upon the Mayflower pilgrims sailed

Until America's Plymouth was hailed.
They anchored there in 1620
Food nearly gone, and hardships aplenty.
Indians shared their seeds, meat, and corn
That’s how the First Thanksgiving was born!

I'm a Little Turkey
I'm a little turkey,
my name is Ted,
Here are my feathers and here is my head.
Gobble, gobble, gobble is what I say,
Quick! Run!
It's Thanksgiving Day!

We are so thankful for the opportunity to spend our days learning, crafting, and playing with your sweet children.  We wish all of our Junebug families a very Happy Thanksgiving!

With Gratitude,
Lindsay and Lindsay
